The same assignments also apply to a host of gender roles - men are expected to not show strong emotional reactions or have intimate friendship bonds except in very limited circumstances around family and a few others. Military comrades, team members are among the few exceptions.

Patriarchy doesn't "assign" anything. How men and women behave and their differing roles in society probably had more to do with evolution and biology.
