That's not remotely accurate, there have been 9 shutdowns in the past 39 years and four of them lasted only a single day. Only four in 39 years have lasted more than three days. It's not a misnomer. Large parts of the federal government are literally and completely shut down.

Would rather we took the Texas model ( small legislative window ) and far less things "funded" by the "Fed Gov" ( debt never to be paid back ); but, I also am a "right wing nut job" [who is closer to the center than anyone wants to acknowledge]
