Child consent has always confused me. A child: Gets spanked? We frown, but, legal. Is forced to attend school or fucking else Not allowed to bone 35 year old.* Maybe allowed to bone 18 year old* Probably allowed to bone other child* *Even if child's experience is the same

I do not get standards around children consenting to sex. It's fine if it's with another kid roughly their own age, but it's predatory if done with someone too much older. I have the 'ick' factor myself to large age gaps, but I don't understand *why*. What does 'predatory' mean?

The only answer that makes sense to me: A child does not 100% own their bodies. Their care takers partially own them. This is due to the amount of invested labor.

Perhaps it's not a problem for the child per se, at least at first, but it's undeniable that with the age gap and an under developed consciousness, there's a clear power struggle with the child always at the weak/losing end.

Kids lack foresight and and understanding of consequences. So we understand that they need guidance and accept adult impositions when the adult in question has nothing to gain directly from the imposition. 1/2

It's damaging to a developing mind. I went to college with someone raised in a sex cult, lost his virginity at age 2. It left him incapable of empathy or intimacy, which lead to drug/alcohol abuse as a coping mechanism.

How would you feel about someone initiating sex with a stranger who was two increments off unconcious drink? That's the equivalent inability to use considered judgement and negotiate, for mine. Older≈less drunk. Disgust response is somewhat of a clue.

Power dynamics. The same reason it's frowned upon for a boss to sleep with an employee. Is the employee doing it because they want to or because of the subtext? It's unanswerable so we default to it being bad
