This is the default way they drink beer in Thailand. Makes sense when it's hot as f outside.

Depends. Temp of beer, type of beer and strength of beer. Usually, it's bad to put ice in a cold beer. If the beer is warm/hot and there is no time to cool it, ice is the only way to enjoy it

You put the ice in a plastic cup then you put the cup in a pitcher of beer. But only if you are drinking the pitcher alone. If you are sharing the pitcher, it should never be allowed to sit long enough to get warm :)

Or you can not be a beer snob and just enjoy it the way you want to. You paid for it, so why not enjoy it.

It's quite common in some parts of the world.
In Viet Nam beer will often have a few ice cubes in it.
In China they have coke in their wine.
Americans put cheese in everything, it's like the Monty Python spam skit.
