Imagine a circle, with a little spinner on it that is going round and round at a steady pace. Now imagine the spinner slows down naturally until it stops. Now imagine the spinner increasing in speed until it's so fast you can't see it. Which was easier to imagine?

I could equally imagine the spinner slowing down or speeding up, but I couldn't imagine the shift from very slow to stopping, whereas I could imagine the shift from extremely fast to so fast that I couldn't see it.
