I'm subscribed to a lot of weird/fringe subreddits; one of the weirdest is r/gendercritical. They say a lot of standard radical leftist stuff like the rest of my radical left subs but then they have this strain of 'trans women are DANGEROUS MEN' and it surprises me every time

male to female trans have a horrifyingly large suicide rate, which is largely caused by the horrifying discovery that irreversible self mutilation failed to raise their status to female status. They also have a horrifyingly large murder rate, but the suicide rate is way higher.

I wonder how much of this is due to IQ correlation? Very high IQ people tend to be more anxious/depressed, and trans women tend to have high IQs. I seriously doubt that explains everything but I wonder how much it does explain.

I think it only explains a small part when compared to stuff like preexisting depression providing impetus to transition (it's easier to take a big risk when you don't have much to lose), unrealistic expectations for transition, social marginalization, and lack of social support.

Pretty sure that's a marginal contributor, at most. High suicide rate among trans people has a whole lot more to do with the depression that comes with living a very confused and ambiguous life. Cogintive dissonance and dysmorphia are killers, in any manifestation.
