The ship is sinking. You are the captain. Do you order that women and children should be evacuated first?

this is 2018 if my ship lacks enough lifeboats for those on board there's something way more fucky going on than who I might call to board those escape pods first.

Reverse alphabetical order by last name; payback for all the elementary school unfairness.

I know this is supposed to be a philosophical question, but practically speaking, all modern passenger ships are equipped w/ sufficient lifeboats for everyone aboard. Splitting up evacuees by gender/age would likely complicate and retard the process. The captain would know this.

That was a Victorian thing. Today the protocol is "get everyone off the boat as fast as possible, help those who need help".

🎃 Children first. The women can please themselves. The men can stay on board, keep bailing and try to save my ship ⛵. I'm in the 🚁 supervising & shark watching. .

Both. If you put children first and then men and women are evacuated randomly, you are running the risk: a child can lose both: mather and father. If you put children with women, al least the mother will survive. Children are more important than men or women.

Children and one of their parents first. It could be Mom or Dad, up to them. But someone's got to take care of all those children.
