What would you call toxic monogamy?
-
Toxic monogamy: *Alice and Bob are in a happy relationship* Alice: *falls for someone else, doesn’t act on it* Bob: *feels like he needs to be angry* *is angry* Alice and Bob: *break up* *hate each other*

What is an example of this?

"Toxic" is often used to refer to a long standing set of social norms that have been widely accepted and justified, but actually result in a lot of repression, damage, harm, or power imbalance in culture. I think as a whole, 'monogamy' has one foot firmly in this definition.

But stability and child rearing are so much more efficiently accomplished by a group marriage, not a monogamous one. With more adults to share the responsibilities you get both more attention for the children and better retention of capital within the family.

Let me put it like this: not being allowed to fuck around feels wrong. Especially for a guy? But the alternative would be to either be solo or lie to your partner.
-
if you're mono, then yes. if you're poly, then you can just do it and be honest with your partner.
