Did your parents ever withhold meals as punishments?

Nope 🤔 main punishment was either being grounded in my room or I wasn't allowed to go the pool

Clarification: Do you mean to include "You can't have the [food item/meal you want] until you eat [food item/earlier meal you refused]." leave it to beaver brussel sprouts kinds of cases where a meal is still being offered?

No, but I was often made to eat a meal as a punishment for not wanting to eat it and do something more interesting instead

I've heard of that being a generational thing, not only callous and cold but also largely ineffective.

Food was never withheld from me but my dad once forced me to eat a huge plate of pancakes before he’d take me to my soccer game, because I said I was hungry one too many times and apparently annoyed him. So instead of 3 pancakes I got like 12. I was 8 or 9 years old
