This depends on the group and the era. E.g. fifteen century Catholics vs protestants yes. Nationalistic Germans vs Israel no.

In general, people are people. But some people do not have inherent bias or inability to absorb information so a straight up comparison isn't really complete enough. One religious group vs. another is a def yes since the people will have similar mindsets.
