I'm at ! I haven't been involved in the political side of psychedelic at all and so this is really fascinating. The general discourse swings extremely left (bordering on social justice) on the culture spectrum, which for some reason isn't what I expected.

I thought it would be a little more culturally diverse on that particular spectrum, because the gathering point here is psychedelics. I guess psychedelics tend to be done disproportionately by people willing to violate norms?

I have a suspicion that there's something going on, which is a particular manifestation of the way psychedelics can perpetuate the idea of "positive thinking" and "the obligation of Good". I might need to write a lot more about this.

Also wanna clarify I am a fat overly drugged hippie who is ass deep in my preferred flavor of spirituality, and I mean my criticism of positive thinking in a very specific way

That would be pretty fascinating, I wonder if it would end up with a religious bent? I know some psychedelic-heavy communities who feel neither right nor left and I feel waaaaay more comfortable around them.

My anecdotal experience is that every person I've ever met that had a positive association with psychedelics was leftish or liberalish. While I've met some more conservative or Republican weed smokers, I haven't met any that would drop acid for a year straight, for example.
