I don't understand when people get outraged over low factory wages in foreign countries without also taking into account the lowered cost of living. It seems like the ratio between the two is the most important thing and I don't get why I never see this discussed.

This is a fairly naive statement. Look at Coca Cola's union busting efforts in Latin America and you will find assassinations. I've known people who were kidnapped as children to produce major brand apparel in SE Asia. Glance at mining and petroleum extraction & yup, more murder.

Also, where are they supposed to work if they want to leave and look for better conditions? There’s no Costco in China although apparently there’s a couple in Taiwan.
