Have you ever completely cut contact with an immediate family member?

after my mother died (I was 22), no one left in my family (much older brothers, aunts, uncles, etc) was present for me; just left me lost, alone, orphaned, sad, terrified. I had no idea how to be wholly on my own and they knew that. I saw no reason to include them in my future.

I did not cut contact. But then again, I do not usually speak to people who are not around me much. I tend to speak with people who are co-located with me more than long-distance contacts.

I dont know that we have cut each other out, but I do have a sister I havent talked to in over a year

Uncle stole money from my dying grandparents, and then pretended not to have anything to help with their funeral. Haven’t spoken since.
