A lot of that corporate women's empowerment attitude is just about getting women a 'seat at the table' without actually doing anything about the established structures and moralism

What's so surreal about it? The best way to control things from a place of power is to say things people want to hear, while doing whatever the fuck you want.

Married people belong to a government sanctioned guild, where you have to get licensed before trading sexual access for resources. Also you have to obey the guild's rules (monogamy) for quality assurance. 😁 Some women find this empowering (over other people).

the problem is the system wants women to feel like a perpetual victim to suit a narrative. i.e. there is a lot of healthy people that engage in sex work or sex industries but they're portrayed as human trafficked or perpetually exploited.
