I've actually thought about this quite a bit. It completely depends on the girl, not the job. The sex work is relatively the same, many do both. I would be more inclined to say that there is a vast pyramid of pornstars & escorts. Some with higher status, some lower.

That being said, there is something very honest about being a pornstar. Escorting tends to be much more discreet, many clients are married, partners unaware of the affairs. With truthfulness as consideration, it would raise pornstars to a higher status in my opinion.

I think the fame/stigma sticks with porn stars way longer, whereas once a woman leaves escorting/sex work they can reinvent themselves easily.

Being president is higher status than being a janitor, even though both are occupations that those people chose. Jobs are viewed a certain way by society, regardless of the dignity or freedom of the people inside those jobs.
