Why do we think of caveman names as guttural and sharp, like Grog, Uzkok, or Thag? Where did that trope come from?

I think the association is the similarity to grunting--which seems to be the trope for pre-language.

Early caveman pictures depicted them looking very stupid. The assumption was that they could not be as intelligent as modern humans. Thus stupid looks and simple names. The simple names were used for comedy in the 1930s if not sooner
