Scenario A: you become invisible to the tax collectors, with guaranteed no repercussions for not paying taxes. This state applies only to you.
What percentage tax do you choose to voluntarily pay? (Combine all the various taxes into one %)

I can't vote coz the answer is "it depends". If I'm making over $1mil then I would feel like utter scum if I'm not paying WAY over 13% (even if I gave a shit ton to charities, which I would, the govt performs necessary functions which keep the world working). OTOH . . .

If I'm making under 20k, I don't think anyone making that needs to be paying taxes so I'm not either if there are guaranteed no consequences (disclaimer: I have paid taxes when making in this range before coz working as independent contractor, which has different & stupid rules)

I'd pay about 15%, which is the lowest tax bracket. It'd save me about $3500 a year.

0% but I increase my charitable contributions accordingly.
I expect that on the margin, my dollars do more good as donations.

Lots of my taxes go towards education and providing healthcare for people who can’t afford private insurance so I’d be happy with 30%ish. It’s nice to only have to pay $6.50 for a $5,000 bottle of immunosuppressant meds so I’ll keep supporting the system that supports me. ☺️

The problem with the question is that you don't define the dollar-amounts. If you're very poor you might not have to pay taxes anyway but if you're rich you might be happy to a lot in taxes. How much is relative.

People underestimate the effect of their tax contributions. Everyone thinks the govt takes is all and returns little, but Medicare and social security are a large part, then l the other govt programs...most people want less taxes but that limits a lot of govt programs for t poor

For me it’s not a matter of percentage, it’s a matter of dictating to what and where my taxes GO.
Schools, roads, health care? 20%
War? -50
