Masters of the Universe: The Super Adventure released 1987, though I've seen dates of '86 and even '85 for BBC Micro. @ZXadventurer do we have a confirmed year for the BBC version?pic.twitter.com/nogrpRqbnV

You need an expert like @ahope1 for BBC Micro queries.

I put our best man on the case! He tells me that the evidence currently suggests that the Beeb version of Masters Of The Universe / Super Adventure was first available to buy in January 1987.

That sounds reasonable, 1986 was probably when the game was in production and 1985 just someone's crazy notion.

I remember reading a news piece that said US Gold had had the licence for two years but hadn't put anything out, so maybe that's the source of the 1985 date.

This is from September 1986... So definitely not a 1985 game... and pretty clear it must be Christmas 1986 at the earliest... The film came out in 1987, so that might've been a target.pic.twitter.com/oAI1JOCLk6

Update from our intrepid researcher: "I have found an ad in Computer Gamer magazine December 1986 for He-Man. It has prices etc. and is a full colour inside cover ad. Looks legit for a Dec 86 release." https://archive.org/details/Computer_Gamer_Issue_21_1986-12_Argus_Press_GB/page/n2/mode/1up …

There are adverts in multiple November-dated magazines too (which had October streetdates) such as Crash, SU, Computer Gamer, C&VG; listing all the versions C64/128, Amstrad, BBC/Electron, Spectrum & PC. So, they probably had it out by Christmas 1986 as mentioned in that article.
