    I get a lot of people asking me for information for beginners on how to learn FB ads. So I'm creating this thread to include different resources and tweets that will help someone learn the basics around FB ads. RT to spread the knowledge!

    Just starting out with FB ads? Stop only creating lookalikes based off the purchase event. FB allows you to create lookalikes directly from your pixel product catalog. Don't be afraid to try out other events farther up the funnel too. Sometimes they end up doing better.

    In my experience, the easiest types of campaigns to run (in order) are: 1. App Downloads 2. Lead Gen 3. Ecommerce App install campaigns have so much less performance volatility compared to ecom. Makes it much easier to manage from a day to day perspective. Food for thought.

    Next time you're creating a Lookalike (LLA) click "Advanced Options" at the bottom. This allows you to create multiple LLAs from the same source at one time. You also won't have to worry about excluding smaller LLAs from the bigger ones since they're segmented.

    One of the most common FB targeting mistakes is trying to get too narrow. When it comes to interest-based prospection, start broad, not narrow. And please, NEVER narrow down by engaged shoppers. If you disagree, you're wrong. Fight me.

    Are your video creatives not performing well? Something that can cause bad performance is a short average watch time. If people aren't watching, they aren't buying. So, incorporate a hook within the first 3 seconds. That'll lead to longer watch times and more conversions.

    Whenever I start working on a new ecom store I love testing out different landing pages. One of the first things I'll test out is sending traffic straight to a product page vs. a collection page vs. the home page. Highly recommend you doing the same.

    Make sure you aren't forgetting to run ads to people who've purchased your product in the past. They like your product(s), so give them the opportunity to buy more or something similar. Create specific copy, creatives and promotions just for them. Trust me, it'll be worth it.

    Make sure you remember to test Collection ads with an Instant Experience. Started testing it for one my bigger clients last month and have seen a huge jump in ROAS on prospection. Works well for products that don't necessarily solve a specific problem like trinkets.

    This is what happens when the image you use is super small. I guarantee you this ad is not profitable. I recommend making your images at least 1080 x 1080.

    When you're using a CBO campaign, don't turn off an ad set just because it's not getting any spend. That doesn't necessarily mean the ad set is bad. FB just thinks there are better options at that point in time. But campaign spend allocation can change very quickly. Patience!
