Y’all REFUSE to be a safe haven for your children on some “the real world won’t coddle them” bullshit. Of course it won’t, that’s why they need to learn what love looks like so they can recognize when they’re being treated badly. Don’t normalize pain and disappointment.

I'm sorry that you had to face that :( The worst part is that it's hard to hate them for it coz it comes from an intention to protect and "prepare", but it just creates more scars, and ended up making me hesitant to share stuff with them at all. I wish parents would realize that.

I totally understand what you’re saying. I never toss full blame on my own folks for anything. They were hurt too in their lives and I see it from their POV. BUT, it doesn’t mean I agree with it. Mine were terrible at emotional support and it made it hard to cope at times.
