If Dem presidents can set record breaking deportations, why should we be surprised when GOP candidates spew venomous rhetoric?

As the nation turns to Iowa, I spoke with some of the tens of thousands of people shut out from participating in the caucus. “You basically are nothing,” one said.

Both seem to have tepid responses from their hometown crowds. I have never met a NYer who was excited about Bloomberg, much like most people in LA aren't necessarily Villaraigosa fans. If last race was any indication, Villar doesn't bring Latino support.

Interesting parallels between Bloomberg and Villaraigosa. Both entered their latest/last campaigns late. Both were big on policing "Stop and Frisk Bloomberg" & Villar grew the LAPD force. Both have ed reform credentials, to the point of angering the union rank & file.

These videos come in every single day: poking people in the chest and getting pissed off any time someone asks him to stand up to the fossil fuel industry. He is utterly and completely unfit for the office he seeks.

Breakfast/lunch en mi casa. BLAT (yes, I did add lettuce to the sandwich and a top piece of toasted sourdough) and omelette for the non bread eater. Sometimes it's the simple meals that are the best.

This is pretty good. I feel like Sandra Cisneros comes across as tone deaf in this interview.

✅ 📚 of writers. A part of resistance is creating our own spaces with a book list, to our indigenous conference going on 5th year ✊🏾 we know that inclusiveness most of the time does not include indigenous peoples .

This week my dad, who is retired and two of his work amigos (fellow retired Chicanos), went out to lunch and American Dirt came up in conversation and how they were not going to read it...the elders are paying attention.

In the interest of dialogue, should not cancel these events. The writer should be able to defend her work in public in cities where Latinos live, work, write, etc.

From piece in NY Times Opinion re: Oprah’s book club selections over past 20+ years: “Uncomfortably, not one of the 82 books selected so far was written by a Mexican or Mexican-American.“
