I used to say the most important thing in a young VA's career was perseverance. I still think it's important, but I think what's far more important for new & upcoming VA's is PATIENCE.
There's no timeline but your's. You don't need to have a lead role by 2 years in, or 5, or 10.

Also if anyone is interested, here are some drawings I did when trying to figure out the character a bit like after session 3 or 4?
The only things I really was sure of was they had long wavy hair (Water...), and I also wanted them to have earrings like a pirate, lol.

How does this all net out? Well, in the end Libby did find out! Jenny didn't have time to explain at the moment, because they had to go fight God, but... after it all ended. Jenny was able to apologize, in a bittersweet way, with the reincarnation of Earth's brother by her side.

Past Life Memories also helped to inform choices when roleplaying. Establishing early on that Water felt a lot of guilt about something they did to Earth helped give a sort of anchor during things like battle. Whenever Earth was in danger, Water would always try to defend her.

I really liked how the Past Life mechanic allowed you to play 2 different personalities, and explore what the differences between them ultimately means for the character's values, relationships, etc.
Can Jenny admit to Earth/Libby that she killed Libby's past-life brother?

Wouldn't you know it, they had grown attached to the son, maybe even... Fallen in love with him? But how do you tell the guy you like that you've actually been scamming him this whole time and now he's gonna die?

In Water's past, before becoming an Alchemistress, they were something of a Traveling Rogue and Snake Oil Salesman.
As it so happened, they managed to attach themselves to a wealthy family with a sickly son, who they "nursed" with their fake cures until his death.

But as we're playing the season and the high school version of Jenny is growing closer and more open with her team, memories of her past life end up burdening her with a knowledge that makes TRUE VULNERABILITY... difficult.

Conversely... The Alchemistress of Water, her past life self, is a bit the opposite in some ways. When creating the character, my first thought was, "Water, hunh... I want them to be a pirate."
So in the past they were brash, adventurous, and motivated by freedom.

Jenny is a freshman who is bursting with enthusiasm! She's worried about coming off as lame, but thanks to her cool upperclassmen/fellow Alchemistresses, she is able to embrace some of the dorkier parts of herself like her Squishmallow collection, and her love of LOVE!

When you get cast in a role for an accent in a language you don't speak by a person who speaks that language.... I guess it's a confidence boost that you did it well enough for them to like it, but also WOW THIS IS STRESSFUL.
