Too distracting; class can't be fully engaged with the problems and questions lectures are raising. You would be asked to leave and forced to do so if you didn't.

A poor (facetious) example: I should be able to do whatever I please as long as it doesn't cause an unreasonable problem for other students. Laptops clearly don't count here - people are perfectly capable of concentrating in library computer rooms.

If you put up a screen with arresting images it makes it hard for other students to focus and if you are not paying attention you are going to slow down lecture by asking questions to fill in what you missed or consume office hours having prof repeat what's already been explained

Except not everyone feels comfortable asking questions, and taking questions can slow down a lecture. It’s your job to hold office hours.

And people who are uncomfortable with asking questions in lectures rely on office hours. So if your issue is that you want to stop...

Students who get distracted will likely get distracted anyways. That is just a fact. But laptops can help many with and without disabilities
