I am receptive to students who are in the process of having disabilities verified but for purposes of tests I am reluctant to make accommodations without it. Unfair to other students who don’t get 1.5 to 2x time. Students who can’t write lecture notes often record

Okay but some people can never get them verified, or don't, because people refuse to verify them. There are many people out there with undiagnosed disabilities. I myself possibly have an attention disorder that I never even considered having until now.

A computer will not help focus on lecture and class discussion. If a student wants to skim thru a book, free to do so.

Too distracting; class can't be fully engaged with the problems and questions lectures are raising. You would be asked to leave and forced to do so if you didn't.

A poor (facetious) example: I should be able to do whatever I please as long as it doesn't cause an unreasonable problem for other students. Laptops clearly don't count here - people are perfectly capable of concentrating in library computer rooms.

If you put up a screen with arresting images it makes it hard for other students to focus and if you are not paying attention you are going to slow down lecture by asking questions to fill in what you missed or consume office hours having prof repeat what's already been explained

There have been studies that show students don’t learn as well in lectures than they do in smaller tutorial or seminar environments.

So you are already going to have students who missed what was said or didn’t understand. Or people like me who zone out in a lecture.

Because I cannot keep my attention to someone talking for an hour. It’s why laptops help me, I can adjust my attention back and forth.

So that way I can remain engaged more through the class rather than losing attention 15 mins in and then not getting anything at all.

Consider that everyone learns differently.
