sacral kings, imo, are somewhat liminal figures, in that they occupy a section of society wholly separate from just "nobility"

nobles could certainly become kings, but once they achieve that status through military or diplomatic means, then they become separate again

Charlemagne was a descendant of powerful nobles, but he exemplifies the Christian sacral king pretty well.
