You can say this about people who have PhDs and are well established too. I think the point is that PhD students are more often than not disregarded as experts despite the fact we’re told at the end of the PhD we are experts in our topic by our supervisors etc.

Oh 100%. And I have absolutely met other PhDs who were complete tools about stuff but yeah it often feels like PhD students are entrenched for years in a topic and know all the lit while the “experts” haven’t updated their views in 20 years but everyone still listens to them.
