UK/irish friends, have any of you ever replaced components in a laptop? How did you deal with static discharge? A lot of the advice I see online assumes modern plugs that have a switch or flats that have non-carpeted areas, etc.
But I am asking now because I know I can install the components but I want to know ahead of time if I need to bother with anti static wristbands etc especially since I can’t find a consistent answer on how to use them.

I have found anti-static wrist bands cumbersome, I have installed RAM on 120 laptops at work without being too cautious and not one gave me any issues. So in my view, components aren't as delicate as they used to be but being careful is a good idea.

Thanks for the advice.
