The flat 7-Up one definitely comes from Ireland too - Lucozade is a sensible choice.

Yeah makes sense. Lucozade is a hold over from decades ago where it was marketed as a medicinal drink as far as I know and it never really went away even after they had to stop saying that in their ads.

But even if it’s nonsense I still try to have some haha. It’s harder to find ginger ale here, but I’d drink that if I could.

Yeah, my flatmate is Canadian and said the only place she could get decent ginger ale was some shop in London. (This was a couple of years ago when she kept going on work trips there.)

I have seen Canada Dry around Ireland every now and again and one shop carried some German ginger beer which is a good substitute, but yeah it is hard to find.

It's funny what you think of as everyday products that turn out to just not be a thing elsewhere.

Yeah it was weird moving to Ireland and going to the shop and just not being able to find something like sour dill pickles lol. I have to go to a particular tesco that stocks Czech and Polish groceries for those. But shops in Canada are massive compared to over here.

The one I find interesting is the stuff that's same-but-not - rather than just "we don't have it". T has complained at length about how the apple sauce here is wrong, I ended up getting her several jars of Motts from an import shop!

Oh yeah the applesauce. I like Bramley applesauce but it’s not the same, the texture is different somehow?
