Job searching continues to be perhaps the most disheartening endeavour to date. I spent hours prepping for an interview only for it to not go ahead, essentially, because they refuse to sponsor work permits.

I was feeling good yesterday because I assumed it would be clear I would need a permit (I very obviously am from Canada given my past work xp and education) and the recruiter was like, wait you need a work visa if you’re from Canada???

Oh nooo! I'm so sorry. I thought all was going ahead. That's really shitty of them.

Ah this is a different one I didn’t mention since it was scheduled last minute. The other interview is still scheduled but that is another screening interview so who knows.

Well, I'm glad the other one is still an option, hopefully. Last minute one may have rushed through applications.

I think the recruiter genuinely is uninformed about work permissions, and while she was very nice I also wish she had clarified before I spent several hours preparing and researching the company.
