It is extremely frustrating that library access is immediately cut off for PhDs who submit. What are we supposed to do for edits and for teaching?

It’s complete bs. You probably know this but if you are still teaching iirc you can get staff access or the whole alumni card thing, but that’s a whole PIA thing & no jstor access off campus. The whole scenario is awful nonsense.

Yeah I just requested a staff card but I have been told I will not be able to take books out with it.

Oh well that’s completely unhelpful then. Ugh. I am so sorry friend. This insistence on gatekeeping the library is ridiculous. It should be open access anyway honestly.

I agree, and currently during the pandemic it seems especially unhelpful since we can't actually access the library.

I know!!! It’s terrible. I’m behind in my book bc can’t go in to use library and cannot use things like jstor off campus at my access level. Luckily I’ve found a lot of things on scribd and the free 100 articles on jstor. But wow we really need to do more about open access

Yeah open digital access especially during a pandemic is necessary.
