That's a bit sharp! Not the point you are making, but presumably there is some sort of Reader's Ticket arrangement?

That’s messed up! I didn’t even realize my MA program had expired because I still had and was using library access.

Yeah it’s a noted issue.

Have you actually been cut off? While you are (theoretically) supposed to be cut off immediately, my online access actually remained valid for 18 months post-submission. One benefit of a crappy IT system, I imagine!
-
Well I am no longer able to request scans of articles. I still have a library account that I can see visibly but my privileges have been revoked I think for accessing some services.

It’s complete bs. You probably know this but if you are still teaching iirc you can get staff access or the whole alumni card thing, but that’s a whole PIA thing & no jstor access off campus. The whole scenario is awful nonsense.
-
Yeah I just requested a staff card but I have been told I will not be able to take books out with it.

Maybe an unpopular opinion here, but I think all conferred PhDs should have permanent access to their alma mater's library. Why would any university want to cut off the scholars it created from doing research? Never made sense. It would cost them nothing.
-
I agree, and I don’t think that is a popular opinion among scholars but rather uni admin.
