MFW people promoting the monarchy are wondering if the royals get special treatment as if the entire concept of monarchy isn’t based in this idea that kings and queens are inherently better than the rest of us and chosen by God to rule.https://twitter.com/Brainmage/status/1380615479799255042 …

There's a lot of stupid shit on this site, but JHB asking "do the royals get special treatment?" is just staggering. Do they, Julia? Do you think the royal family might get special treatment? The bloodline chosen by god to rule the country? The ones with all the gold? D'YA THINK

Monarchy doesn’t work if we realize that the monarchs are actually not better than us and that we are capable of succeeding at society better as a community rather than with a rich wealthy figurehead who does nothing.

Anyone who says “tourism” as a justification for monarchy gets thrown into the nearest river. Pretty sure France does okay on the tourism front and they stopped messing with that monarchy thing awhile back.

Also: Canada is a constitutional monarchy and we don’t get any material tourism benefits from her. If you want to see how we see the Queen I can send you some coins. No one comes to see her representative either. Pretty sure GB would do okay for tourism tbh.

There has been and remains no tangible reason for monarchy. There is a reason that kings and queens have to go through all this nonsense to appear relevant and special.

Keeping it prevents a long arguement about political legitimacy, as well as whether to have a ceremonial president who might use more tax payer money or roll president and prime minister into one figure which is the road to dictatorship
