Your friendly reminder that making a comment about how St Patrick isn't Irish and was enslaved by Irish raiders as a non-Irish person who doesn't even live in Ireland is largely an unhelpful comment today, and just makes you look a bit like a jerk.

I'm not saying we can't discuss or point out St Patrick's origins and history, but there's a way to do it that doesn't sound like you're making yourself look morally superior to those who are just celebrating the day.

It would, on the other hand, be better to highlight what Irish historians have written about St Patrick.

We can also definitely critique how the day gets celebrated (in Canada, beer is dyed green and was apparently a giant mess for any bartender on the day, according to my brother) but you aren't a better person if you don't partake in festivities.
