Really need white anthopologists, archaeologists, and historians to stop referring to religious people in W. Europe as 'shamans'. Stop using Indigenous terminology like that. It's irresponsible and inaccurate.

Omg, the amount of "Shamans" i see in some of the groups I'm in online
I'm there for harm reduction and education, but so many self-declared shamans think theyre all-knowing just because they had an existential crisis while tripping
Some even sell their services as "shaman"1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

Which, mind you, leaves a lot of vulnerable people who are on a lot of drugs that make you highly susceptible to suggestion There's a huge underground physical and sexual violence problem, and often it's the self declared "shamans" at the core of it

Especially because when people ask me about stuff now, now I have to make them cautious of "shamans" and explain a bit about what's going on And even then, there's little opportunity to certify a religious/spiritual authority (?) like that too
