the human past is not rigid and multiple things can be true at the same time. The Americas were peopled by humans crossing over the Bering Strait, and these people are closely related to American Indigenous peoples today and so they cannot and should not be called “immigrants” 2/

The USian narrative of “we are all immigrants” is definitely anti-Indigenous, but it is not to acknowledge that the long history of our species starts in Africa and spreads through to the rest of the world. 3/

I am highly conflicted on the Bering land bridge stuff. I see a lot of stuff that says it was debunked, and although it's been awhile since my early Americas classes in my undergrad I know there are sites that would push back movement into the Americas

and also the possibilities of the use of boats that I think deserves some more discussion, and I also think it is important to respect and not discount Indigenous oral histories but of course we know, like you say, that humanity comes from Africa.
