What's a topic you dabbled in and then switched gears and what did you learn? I dabbled in medieval medical urinalysis (don't ask why) at one point and I learned that medieval docs sometimes drank the pee of sick ppl to diagnosis them. #medievaltwitterpic.twitter.com/4fWYfWytoS

Roman religious history but honestly the idea of doing my undergrad diss with any of the available people in GRST at the U of Calgary was a nightmare so I decided to stick with early medieval insular history lol

Hahaha, I don't blame you. Options change depending not just what is available but who too. Having a connection with ppl is such an important part of learning.

Yeah I mean, there were three people I think I could have done it with, and they were all awful. One was a mouth breather with a skullet who wore a leather overcoat and his buttons kept ripping open on his shirts in class. Unpleasant.

Glad I went with the one medievalist, even if she is more traditional, because at least she wasn’t someone who was a creep and/or hated the very idea of interacting with students
