Well I’m sure they do, but I’ve been pretty salty about Leeds for awhile. Kalamazoo manages to keep costs way down, but both conferences have some serious issues with racism, ableism, etc.

And right now, when every other virtual conference I have attended has been free, paying that much really sticks in my craw. Especially due to the lack of transparency over what the money is in fact going to.

yes, I agree. It's a tough one - it's great that people are employed because of it, but it also is a huge amount of money for people to pay, especially for those who may not be in great financial situations, and therefore have to miss out on research.
