I avoid people on the street almost 100% unless they look in distress. I get nervous and panicky when someone asks me for directions because I am very bad at giving them.
But what I don’t do is assume that someone’s appearance makes them automatically more threatening or “indecent” or “rude”.
The last guys who were threatening to me were wearing suits, and were people I knew. The last person who shouted at me as I walked past was some 18 year old on campus.
What determines their actions is how they feel entitled to (often) a woman’s attention, NOT that they look or dress a certain way.
