It can be, unintentionally, I think. I understand your point, but messages are so quickly dehumanised on here and can sound far more aggressive than intended.

Also maybe take some time to consider how this reads for you to say this to a Black woman and scholar who has every damn right to call this out and to call it “aggressive” plays into this idea that BIPOC need to coddle white people’s feelings. They don’t.

No, that is not what I am saying. Of course BIPOC people don't have to coddle white people's feelings, and I would be very sad indeed if people like @ISASaxonists stopped calling out racism in academia and life. The manner of delivery is not binary. 1/2

Now whether the poster cares about that or not is entirely up to them, and that will depend on who they are talking to. But any message can be delivered in an uncompromising manner which can be taken badly by the recipient. I have spent this afternoon 2/3

So yes, maybe you are right and I shouldn't say what I said. But I would ask that you go back and reread my reply to @ISASaxonists and think about it, and I will think about what you said, and how that should affect my behaviour. Thoughts offered in friendship. Ken (Fen).

I thought about what I said before I wrote it, and I stand by it. I don’t know you, and I am annoyed that you have come to tone police people whom you don’t know with regards to someone who has been using the classic white woman tears in a Black woman’s mentions. Bye.

Oh one last thing: I also thought about what you were saying and it was unhelpful and basically makes this out to be some both sides issue when it is not.

I think you both would generally agree on a lot, but yeah for context @fen_ken this thread shows how the same line of "bullying" gets thrown around no matter how nice we are as marginalized folks.https://twitter.com/ISASaxonists/status/1358713050249928704?s=20 …

No longer uses the term "Dark Ages" but is still gonna peddle wyte nationalism, heritage myths &the inaccurate term "Anglo-Saxon" that's your BIPOC colleagues (&others) have been talking about for years now. Come on, Dr. Ramirez, where's your advocacy for better terminology here? https://twitter.com/DrJaninaRamirez/status/1355286140060897283 …
