No longer uses the term "Dark Ages" but is still gonna peddle wyte nationalism, heritage myths &the inaccurate term "Anglo-Saxon" that's your BIPOC colleagues (&others) have been talking about for years now. Come on, Dr. Ramirez, where's your advocacy for better terminology here?https://twitter.com/DrJaninaRamirez/status/1355286140060897283 …

May you all fall in love with this story like I did as a teenager. Look at the objects, immerse yourself in the poetry of the period, the people & their imaginative world. No longer use the term ‘Dark Ages’. Sutton Hoo, Basil & Edith illuminated a period so bright & beautiful.

I know of a single historian who still uses the Dark Ages and no one agrees with him, how the hell is this the takeaway?

Dark Ages is not widely used any more, so I don't even know what this is about.

Reading through this thread it seems to me that it doesn’t properly reckon with the dangerous white nationalism and imaginary “Anglo-Saxon” white past that the show puts on display.

Yes. I get that people will like it for various reasons and that's fine, but a responsible viewing as scholars means we gotta address these things too or we aren't doing our jobs properly.
