Maybe a major element of starting to combat fascism/white supremacy in the Middle Ages is to stop centering so much of our media narratives around the warfare and violence of the Middle Ages, which sets it up as a "free for all" time where "men were men" and women stayed home.

Like, this doesn't mean that we can't have military movies set in the Middle Ages, but let's see some more elements of life. A rom-com set in a beguinage. An unlikely buddy film set around an illuminator and their apprentice.

When shows like Game of Thrones and Knightfall are all we have, white dudes duking it out to a metal soundtrack, with women as incidental characters or characters who have to lose their femininity to be powerful or survive, it just reaffirms that white supremacist narrative.

Replying to @SamanthaSandy7
Should also point out that the media centres whiteness and that is really the cornerstone of this: you get a few BIPOC characters but they are not centred and are often bypassed, brutalized and subject to loads of nonsense.

It definitely all plays into it though: the white man's crusader fantasy.
