Anyway, for any BIPOC listening who want to enter Medieval Studies in particular, don't do it if you are in any way committed to racial justice. It will destroy your mental (and possibly physical) health. Your life, your body and your mental health are more important.

Well...they're trying to change the conversation on these things. It's a start but Lots of work to be done thats true. What's important, at least from what's been happening recently in the UK, is medievalists banding together to save their departments from potential closure...

I think that Dr MRO is saying that students should not be entering fields where they will have to contend with extreme racism, hostility, microaggressions and outward aggression. In addition, they may be banding together to save jobs but not to make those depts inclusive.

many people who have been banding together act under the auspices of doing this for BIPOC students, but they never actually come to defend those students either on here or in real life.

Yes, that's pretty much my point. The jobs and futures of these young scholars doesn't matter and never did. We are literally seeing BIPOC walk away now and no one gives a shit.
