I think that anyone losing academic jobs is terrible, and any job loss during a pandemic is even worse but the way that the stuff at Leicester is being framed atm is extremely and vastly not okay.
Because how much racist abuse have they had to endure? And how about your BIPOC/BAME colleagues who have been pushed out of the field, attacked, DOXXED and you said nothing? Did nothing? And you remain friends with those who do these things?

Like at least be honest and say that you don't want it to be cut instead of pretending like you've been an anti-racist scholar this whole time.

And again I am perturbed by these claims of scholars who got their degrees at Leicester as being anti-racist when their work...is not anti-racist. The disingenuous nature of this is really frustrating.

And again, if you were truly committed to your BAME students and colleagues then you'd be speaking out against the racist sock puppets attacking them, against the white supremacists RTing your petition, defending them and being a real ally.

Solidarity is great, but where was your solidarity when BIPOC medievalists and other scholars have been attacked, consistently, by other medievalists and people outside the field? It's nowhere.
