You highlight a central problem of the Avengers though. What gives them the right to do what they do? But government oversight, while good in theory is only as uncorrupt as the governments and as we have seen...they are excessively corrupt.

Right. Which is the central issue of Civil War and as you point out doesn't have a satisfactory answer even in the MCU. I am waiting for the post Infinity War movie of Bucky Barnes being aggressively non violent and angrily deescalating situations

By. . . killing people. I feel like the Iron Man arc as a whole is a good anti-war message: Tony Stark tries to atone for his role in death by only doing the right death, slowly realizes this is futile while trying more desperate schemes to accomplish this and developing ptsd.

I said it was a nugget of a good idea. Not that the whole premise of the film is good, hence my criticism.
