The starting point is "How can I make things better". Following Trump is after that. Please don't read this as apologia. It's the opposite. The point is: there's energy here, there's desire here, there's hope here. I'm crushed it's directed the way it is.

I'm not concerned with their hope for a better world. I'm concerned that they have hope for something horrific. I also don't really see why you'd read anything I've said as antithetical to any account of deep rooted attitudes. I've clearly expressed myself poorly.

Again: my sadness is that she hopes for fascism. I'm sure that's a sadness you share. That sadness does not require that I exculpate her or the society, culture or contexts which generated her fascism. Indeed, my sadness encompasses the existence of those conditions.
