Yep. Not on display in the video. Which is what's sad and scary. Her hope lead her to hate. And maybe her hate lead her to hope, too.

it's all in the video because it's underpinning the reason she is there. Why bother sympathizing with a fascist? What does this achieve?

there is absolutely zero reason to be sympathizing with these people, period. They are terrorists. A woman was KILLED because of this.

I'm absolutely not sympathising with her. Sorry if that's not clear enough.

Then why did you tweet about how this made you cry? And about how there is no hate here? Making comments about perverted and corrupted hope when what it boils down to is that Trump supporters are fascists, and racists.

Whether you intend to or not, these tweets do read like sympathy. When all of these peoples' actions should be condemned, not subject to analysis about her "hope". Hope for what? For a White America?

"White America" is her end point, but not her starting point. I'll condemn that "solution" with every fibre of my being. What I'm sad -- broken -- is that a genuine desire to make the world better finds its end in such horror and evil, as I said. I cry that people hope for evil.

It's absolutely her starting point. Anyone who followed Trump aligned with his views in some manner and acting like they started good but descended into evil ignores how ingrained racism is in society, period. Not just America.

The starting point is "How can I make things better". Following Trump is after that. Please don't read this as apologia. It's the opposite. The point is: there's energy here, there's desire here, there's hope here. I'm crushed it's directed the way it is.

If you cannot see how those that follow Trump are at their core, bigots and that they're better world is literally rooted in white supremacy and that Trump did not start the racism that was already endemic in America then I have no idea what else to say.

Let me be very clear: these people were already racist. They were already bigots. It's why they followed Trump in the first place but if you honestly think this only started happening in the last four years and it's embedded in the national consciousness...wow.

I agree with you entirely. I think you're arguing with something you imagine I've said rather than what I've actually said.

Then why are you crying about their hope for a better world?
