I hate this video. There's no hate. No anger. Just hope. Stolen, broken, perverted, evil, corrupted hope.https://twitter.com/brokenbottleboy/status/1346945034822823936 …

this is a video of a fascist who tried to storm a government building to overturn the democratic process.

It's certainly that. That's what's so terrifying.

Yep. Not on display in the video. Which is what's sad and scary. Her hope lead her to hate. And maybe her hate lead her to hope, too.

it's all in the video because it's underpinning the reason she is there. Why bother sympathizing with a fascist? What does this achieve?

there is absolutely zero reason to be sympathizing with these people, period. They are terrorists. A woman was KILLED because of this.

I'm absolutely not sympathising with her. Sorry if that's not clear enough.

Then why did you tweet about how this made you cry? And about how there is no hate here? Making comments about perverted and corrupted hope when what it boils down to is that Trump supporters are fascists, and racists.

It made me cry because there are countless people in America and across world who genuinely want a better world, but who choose fascism. That fact doesn't require "sympathy" with fascists. Quite the contrary. Fascists beget fascists. That's why I cry.

Their "better world" means no BIPOC, no queer people, no disabled people. You honestly think that deserves your tears? How about for all the people who get attacked by these fascists daily? Who can't live in peace because of this?
