here's my opinion: I think Boromir wasn't inherently a bad man, but he was used as an example of why "men are weak". He clearly thought protecting the hobbits was his job. But he's way too much like Denethor.

so he still puts Gondor/his dad above all else, and that I think is largely why the ring was able to corrupt him so easily.

Aragorn already knows what happens when men have the ring, Gandalf is an ancient magical being, Gimli and Legolas don't seem to give a shit about the ring personally and seem to just want to help Aragorn/Gandalf/Frodo.
