Anyone have some good cookie recipes that don’t use nuts and dried fruit? I know I can just leave that stuff out of recipes that use them (unless they are the entire conceit of the cookie) but I just want a solid recipe I don’t have to substitute anything in.

My mom always made basically this recipe and called them "ginger snaps" but no matter how she fiddled, she could never get them crunchy. Honestly I never understood why that was a problem and just called them "ginger goos".

My mom always calls them “molasses crisps” even though they’re never crisp. The version of the recipe from Betty Crocker calls them “molasses crinkles” referring to the crinkled top, and no matter how many times I show her that she’ll never change.
