And it also bothers me that the "incentives" the UK uses to get people to declare finds are monetary, but that just further pushes people to do it, hoping they will find loads of gold and make millions.

that capitalist mindset is very damaging and I think it also skews peoples' perception that the only archaeological finds worth finding are something we can view through a capitalist lens.
